Frequently Asked Questions about acupuncture covered by insurance.
IS ACUPUNCTURE COVERED BY INSURANCE?
If you have acupuncture benefits as part of your health insurance coverage, then your insurance company will cover all or part of your acupuncture treatments. Every policy is different, so we will need to find out details about what is covered under your policy. If you can provide us with a copy of your insurance card, we are happy to inquire about your eligibility and coverage details for you.
Our staff can instruct you on other ways you might be able to get reimbursement
or apply a savings to your plan for care.
DOES MEDI-CAL AND MEDICARE COVER ACUPUNCTURE?
At this time, Medi-Cal and Medicare do not provide coverage for acupuncture.
CAN I USE MY INSURANCE IF I AM IN A CAR ACCIDENT?
If you have suffered a personal injury in a motor vehicle accident, your car insurance or the other party’s car insurance can pay for acupuncture treatments.
NOTE: Using medical payment coverage does not affect your insurance rates.
Dr. Mancini can also work directly with attorneys to coordinate coverage for your acupuncture treatments. In the case of an accident, please call us to find out what we can do to help.

What does acupuncture treat?
Anything that your body has the capacity to do on its own, including healing, acupuncture can help to trigger and speed up those processes. Chinese medicine is designed to take your body up to the point where it can function as close to 100% as possible on its own – for life.
The use of acupuncture is appropriate for, but not limited to, the following types of conditions based on the nationally recognized 2004 Evidence Based Acupuncture Guidelines:
